There has been a winter storm watch put in place for western New York ahead of the Buffalo Bills’ meeting against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
According to AccuWeather, lake-effect snowfall is going to blast the region. So much so, the outlet wrote the amount of snowfall might be “potentially historic.”
The storm is set to “full throttle” starting Thursday and continue to the weekend. Snow could fall at a rate of two-to-four inches an hour, at times.
Specifically, AccuWeather noted that this storm is going to hit Highmark Stadium:
The National Weather Service issued a lake-effect snow warning for the Buffalo area on Wednesday. The warning was scheduled to remain in place into the weekend. The warning also encompassed nearby Orchard Park, New York, where the NFL’s Buffalo Bills are scheduled to play the Cleveland Browns at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
On Wednesday, a state of emergency was issued due to the forecast by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, effective Thursday morning for her hometown region of Buffalo.
The state plans on bringing “emergency assets” to crisis areas.
One important thing to note with the forecast is that its length is what’s in question. The storm is going to roll into the weekend, but it’s unclear if it’s going to be happening still when Bills (6-3) and the Browns (3-6) kickoff.
Bills Wire will continue to provide updates during lead up to kickoff.
