4-star Florida CB commit sets official visit date, per reports

Four-star cornerback Sharif Denson might be committed to UF, but he hasn’t taken his official visit to the Swamp yet. That will change soon.

The Florida Gators earned a commitment from four-star cornerback [autotag]Sharif Denson[/autotag] back in June, but he has yet to take an official visit to the university. That should all change next month, according to a report from Gators Online that says Denson will be in town on Dec. 9.

Denson’s most recent trip to Gainesville came on Oct. 15 for the Gators’ home game against LSU. He was also in town for the season opener against Utah, so he’s experienced two strong game-day atmospheres in the Swamp.

Although he’s committed, nothing is official until the pen hits paper, and Florida doesn’t want to lose this legacy recruit. Gators Online’s Corey Bender says that the team has treated him as a priority and that a flip appears unlikely. The main suitors for him are Miami and Alabama, but the Tide aren’t as high on him as Florida and the ‘Canes have been floundering.

Denson is a four-star recruit by most measures. On3 has him listed as a three-star prospect, but ESPN and Rivals are much higher on him. His consensus ranking falls between the 230-250 range on both the On3 consensus and 247Sports composite.

It’s hard to tell how locked-in recruits are until letters of intent are signed, but there’s a feeling of optimism around Denson right now.
