Returnal is seemingly heading to PC

A Steam database update suggests that the popular PS5 shooter might debut on PC soon.

It’s looking pretty likely that Returnal, the wild third-person shooter by developer Housemarque, will be coming to PC.

First spotted by Reddit, an update for something called “Oregon” appeared on SteamDB this week. Rumors have been floating about since spring that Oregon is a codename for Returnal, mainly because the listing mentions “Tower of Sisyphus” – the game’s DLC expansion. There are also genre tags like Sci-fi, bullet hell, online co-op, female protagonist, and third person — yup, that sure sound like Returnal.

Returnal originally came out in April 2021 and quickly became known as one of the best PS5 games. Primarily due to its genre-bending take on roguelikes. That, and it was ridiculously challenging, turning into somewhat of a badge of honor for hardcore genre fans.

While there’s no official confirmation of Returnal for PC, it’s not hard to believe a port is happening. Sony has made massive strides on the platform this year with top-tier ports of God of War, Spider-Man: Remastered, and more coming with titles like The Last of Us Part 1. Even the wildly anticipated God Of War Ragnarok isn’t off the table.

Time will tell if Returnal makes the jump too, but it’s looking like a worst-kept secret already.
