Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff added several talented playmakers to the roster this offseason via the NCAA transfer portal.
The most notable name was former Ohio State quarterback Quinn Ewers. Texas’ new starting quarterback has experienced some bright moments and some forgetful performances, but overall appears to be the future at the position for the Longhorns.
ESPN recently released their top 50 impact transfers for this season, and Ewers wasn’t the highest ranked Texas player on the list. Former Ohio State defensive back Ryan Watts holds that honor, landing at No. 34 overall. Ewers appeared a few spots below Watts at No. 37.
Watts has started all eight games for Texas this season, compiling 33 total tackles, one interception and three passes defended.
Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker landed at No. 1 in ESPN’s top impact transfers. Other notable names on the list include Jordan Addison, Caleb Williams, Bo Nix, Jahmyr Gibbs, Hayden Daniels and Dillon Gabriel.
