The week is nearly halfway through as the big game between the Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs quickly approaches. The annual event, dubbed The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, has taken place in Jacksonville Florida since 1933, with just a couple of exceptions along the way during the mid-1990s.
The two programs enter the matchup in very different states of affairs. The ‘Dawgs earned its first national championship since 1980 last season and have come out of the gates looking hot again in 2022. The Gators, on the other hand, have been fledgling under new head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] after the [autotag]Dan Mullen[/autotag] era came to an abrupt ending before the conclusion of the 2021 campaign.
The Bulldogs hold a solid edge on the Gators in the all-time series with a 53-44-2 record dating back to the first meeting in 1915. Both schools own series-high seven-game winning streaks, with Florida’s coming from 1990 to 1996 and Georgia’s from 1941 to 1948. The long-time rivals have split their last two meetings but UGA has won four of the past five coming into Saturday.
