The Texas Longhorns won a nail biter over the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday. More importantly, they won in a style of play their opponent is more comfortable playing.
Saturday’s game was reminiscent of the first two games of the Cyclones’ first two wins in their three-game winning streak over Texas. In 2019, the Cyclones kicked a game winning field goal to defeat Texas, 23-21. The following year, Matt Campbell’s squad came back from double digits to win 23-20 in Austin.
Those defeats played a huge role in Tom Herman’s firing. Nevertheless, though Texas found itself in the same kind of battle this year, Steve Sarkisian found a way to win.
Texas defensive lineman Moro Ojomo called the game a culture win. More than that, Texas players elevated their play in crunch time taking away the chance of defeat.
Let’s examine what we learned on Saturday.
