NFL standings 2022: Jaguars tumble to third in AFC South with loss

The Jaguars are now behind both the Titans and the Colts in the AFC South.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ brief reign at the top of the AFC South ended Sunday with a 13-6 loss to the previously winless Houston Texans.

To make a bad day even worse for the Jaguars, Washington Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz threw an interception in the final seconds to give the Tennessee Titans a 21-17 win. On Thursday, the Indianapolis Colts beat the Denver Broncos in overtime, 12-9.

After Week 5, the race in the AFC South looks like this:

  1. Tennessee Titans: 3-2 (1-0 in division)
  2. Indianapolis Colts: 2-2-1 (0-2-1 in division)
  3. Jacksonville Jaguars: 2-3 (1-1 in division)
  4. Houston Texans: 1-3-1 (1-0-1 in division)

The Jaguars have a chance to climb back to second next Sunday if they can pick up a road win against the Colts in Week 6. The Titans have a bye and will sit at 3-2 and in first place in the division until at least Week 7.

The last place Texans also have a bye and will stay in fourth even if the Jaguars lose next week.
