The New York Giants continued their early season success as they knocked off the Carolina Panthers in Big Blue’s home opener in Week 2. The 19-16 win puts the Giants at 2-0 and on top of the NFC East for the time being.
The victory was not exactly pretty, but a win is a win. The Giants beat the Panthers due to a phenomenal revenge game from kicker Graham Gano. In a game where many players lagged behind, Gano stepped up to the plate and put the team on his back.
Gano was perfect on Sunday. He had four field goals and one extra point on the day. The first two kicks came from 36 and 33 yards out, putting the Giants up 6-0.
Then, Gano had his first fourth-quarter field goal from 51 yards out, which gave the Giants a 16-13 lead. Finally, Gano won the game for the Giants (much like he did against New York with the Panthers a few years ago) with a 56-yard field goal.
This was a big win in East Rutherford and Gano deserves a lot of praise for it.
Graham Gano is a beast. Hits a 56-yarder to give the Giants a 19-16 lead with 3:34 remaining.
He's once again their best player.
