Saquon Barkley recalls the rookie advice he got from Eli Manning

The advice Eli Manning gave Saquon Barkley in his rookie season is hilarious

The return of Monday Night Football not only brought in a new broadcast booth with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. It also brought the return of the fan-favorite Manning Cast, an alternate casual conversational and reaction broadcast of the Monday night NFL game hosted by Peyton Manning and Eli Manning. In the season debut of the Manning Cast, former Penn State running back and current New York Giants running back [autotag]Saquon Barkley[/autotag] joined the Manning brothers for a segment, and he shared his side of a story about a past disagreement with his former teammate, Eli Manning.

Peyton Manning asked Barkley about a moment where Barkley and Eli had a disagreement over what route was supposed to be run on a certain play. Barkley said he was sure he had the right route in this particular moment, but Eli said otherwise.

“If I tell you to go run a certain route, you go ahead and run it,” Eli Manning said he instructed Barkley at the time. “If I tell you tomorrow is Easter, go paint some eggs.”

Barkley went on to confirm he was in the wrong as the rookie and the veteran Super Bowl-winning quarterback was right, much to the chagrin of Barkley.

“I just kind of laughed it off and let him get away with that one,” Barkley said.

Barkley got his 2022 season off to a great start in Week 1 of the NFL season. Barkley rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown, and he scored the game-winning two-point conversion in a surprising road upset of the Tennessee Titans, last year’s top seed in the AFC playoffs.
