After their Sunday afternoon defeat of the New England Patriots, the Miami Dolphins have kept pace with the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East and are starting to get some respect from members of the national media.
Touchdown Wire’s Mark Lane has been producing weekly NFL power rankings, and after having the Dolphins at No. 20 in Week 1, he had them climbing up to No. 10 in Week 2.
Here’s what Lane wrote about Miami after their season-opening victory.
“Mike McDaniel had the Dolphins ready to go for Week 1 against a tough divisional opponent. Tyreek Hill had a decent debut with eight catches for 94 yards. Tua Tagovailoa was efficient as he completed 23 passes on 33 attempts for 270 yards and a touchdown. The Dolphins may be able to take the next step and get back to being relevant in the AFC East.”
Ahead of the Dolphins are the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati Bengals, Los Angeles Chargers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.
Those are all teams that are expected to be in the playoffs or at least fighting to get in, and Miami should be right alongside them as the season continues.
