New Boston reserve floor general Malcolm Brogdon seen as Celtics player with most to prove in 2022-23

The former Pacers point guard does indeed have a lot on his plate going into next season.

The Boston Celtics will need to be a better version of the team they were last year to truly fulfill their status as favorites to win the 2023 NBA championship next summer, which will not be an easy task given they were a very good team indeed in the second half of the 2021-22 season.

But the club did go out and add players to its bench rotation. The improved depth might help give legs to the team’s young stars if they reach the NBA Finals again, unlike last season when the Celtics faced a better-rested Golden State Warriors squad that dispatched them in six games to win it all. But even considering all of this, The Athletic’s Sam Amick sees one of those players — point guard Malcolm Brogdon — as the Celtics player with the most to prove next season.

“It’s never easy being the new guy on the team,” he begins.
