Casey Thompson made the move from Texas to Nebraska via the transfer portal this offseason.
Thompson took advantage of his new opportunity, winning the Cornhuskers’ starting job in fall camp. He threw for 314 yards and a touchdown in Nebraska’s Week 0 loss to Northwestern over the weekend.
While Thompson is focused on his new team and the new season, the media has continued to ask the quarterback about the Texas Longhorns. Last week a reporter asked Thomson to compare Nebraksa’s skill position depth to Texas’. His answer sided more with the Cornhuskers and social media took notice.
Thompson addressed the media following the season opener and asked the media to steer clear of any Texas-related questions from here on out. He still has a close relationship with many of the Longhorns players and is wishing them the best, but his focus is strongly on Nebraska football.
“Bijan Robinson is one of the best running backs, athletes I have ever been around. Xavier Worthy is one of the best route runners. Those guys have everything that’s going their way. But moving forward, I just want to talk about Nebraska football. The games that we have in hand and the issues we have here.”
