Detroit Pistons rookie Jaden Ivey was photographed in the gym with Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook during an offseason workout session on Monday.
The two players hit the court in California, where Ivey has spent much of the offseason training time. Reports have indicated he is healthy again after an ankle injury limited him to 38 minutes in the Las Vegas Summer League.
Working with Westbrook was likely a great opportunity for Ivey to pull some knowledge and other tips from an established player. Ivey often said he modeled his game after Westbrook as the two have similar playing styles with their athleticism and ability to score.

Ivey enters the 2022-23 season with high expectations as the fifth pick. He is projected to have a large role with the Pistons, who many believe will take the next step in their rebuild. He was even ranked as the 25th-best shooting guard heading into the season.
He looked electric on the court during his limited run in Las Vegas and should fit very well next to Cade Cunningham & Co. He looks to be a player that will have a smooth transition to the NBA, which figures to help the Pistons show improvement on the court.
The Pistons begin their preseason schedule on Oct. 4.
