Chelsea is coming off a 1-0 win over Everton in which it tripled its opponents’ expected goals. The home side lost F Romelu Lukaku this offseason, but did add Manchester City F Raheem Sterling.
Chelsea’s 30-year-old M Jorginho scored the lone goal in its opener. Having to keep pace with City, Chelsea will have a difficult challenge Sunday. It beat Tottenham all 4 times last season, twice in the EFL Cup.
As for the F Harry Kane-led Tottenham, it will also look to contend as one of the EPL’s more talented teams.
In addition to Kane, it is led by star winger Son Heung-min. Neither scored despite both getting 90 minutes in Tottenham’s season-opening 4-1 win over Southampton.

Man City and Chelsea have the 2 most complete rosters in the league. From the attacking to defense, Chelsea has skill all over the field, and at home against a team it beat all 4 times last season, it has great value.
Tottenham’s strong start to the season covered up Kane’s struggles as he had just 1 shot on target. Tottenham had success against both Liverpool and City last season, but Chelsea consistently had its number.
I expect a similar showing from the Blues in this battle. This will be a good indicator of where each team is as the new season doesn’t have a lot of matches under its belt.

Chelsea had the 3rd-best defense in the EPL last season, while Tottenham had the 4th best.
Both allowed 40 or fewer goals in 38 matches. Chelsea brought back its 3 key defenders and has arguably the best center defending mid in the world (M N’Golo Kanté).
Tottenham may have won 4-1 last week, but there were just 2.0 expected goals. I would expect the experience to rival the Tottenham playmaking.
