As Florida’s recruiting class of 2023 continues to fill up with commitments, the attention is slowly shifting more toward those targets in the class of 2024. One of those targets receiving increased attention from the Gators in recent weeks is Mater Dei (Santa Ana, California) offensive tackle [autotag]Brandon Baker[/autotag], who picked up an offer from the orange and blue on Wednesday.
Florida joins over a dozen Power Five programs that are pursuing the West Coast talent. Miami, Michigan Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and USC are just a few of the names interested in Baker. He’s still getting to know Florida and the SEC, but those are two relationships he seems intent on building.
“They have great tradition,” Baker said to Gators Online. I don’t know too much about the program as a whole, honestly, but I’m definitely excited moving forward and to build relationships with the program. Hearing I could be a guy in the offensive linemen room to come in and play is something great to hear.”
All glory to God. Blessed to say I’ve received my 16th offer from the university of Florida. Thank you @darnellru53 for believing in my talents! @MDFootball @adamgorney @gregbiggins pic.twitter.com/9lzQtvEjLE

The On3 consensus has Baker ranked No. 107 overall in the class of 2024 and No. 6 among offensive tackles. The site’s individual rankings — the consensus equally weights all four major services for a composite grade — have Baker a bit high at No. 95 overall but No. 8 among players at his position.
