Former Rutgers football running back Isiah Pacheco is making a strong push with the Kansas City Chiefs in training camp. Pacheco is showing his athleticism, versatility and the potential to be an impact player in the NFL for his new team.
Pacheco, a seventh round pick of the Chiefs in the 2022 NFL draft, put up an impressive 4.37 time in the 40 this spring in the NFL combine.
The emergence of Pacheco as a rookie is impressive. Making it even more impactful is that the former Rutgers standout is making his case on one of the NFL’s top offenses.
He could well be a part of the Chiefs backfield rotation as well as featuring on special teams. A former All-Big Ten selection, Pacheco has the speed to be an impact in the second-level and is showing pass-catching ability as well.
And he is showing well in the passing game, a part of the offense that while at Rutgers Pacheco wasn’t overly involved in. On Thursday, Pacheco made an impressive diving catch in Chiefs training camp:
The Isiah Pacheco drumbeat keeps getting louder and louder đ„
Iâll never forget what he said after being drafted by the Chiefs

Last season at Rutgers, Pacheco has 647 rushing yards on on 167 carries for five touchdowns. The numbers are even more impressive when considering that the Rutgers football offensive line was not a strength of the team last year.

He had 13 catches for 25 yards as well in his final season at Rutgers.
