Woj: Boston alum Juancho Hernangomez signing one-season deal with Toronto Raptors

Bo Cruz is headed north, it seems.

Bo Cruz — or at least the NBA player who starred in Adam Sandler’s “Hustle” as him — is headed north to Canada according to new reporting from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Per Woj, unrestricted free agent Juan Alberto “Juancho” Hernangómez Geuer will sign with the Toronto Raptors for the 2022-23 season.

The former Boston Celtics big man was dealt to the team from the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kris Dunn, Carsen Edwards and draft assets in the 2021 NBA offseason, but he did not mesh well with the Celtics. He fell out of the rotation after an underwhelming start. In January 2022, Hernangómez was traded to the San Antonio Spurs for Bol Bol and PJ Dozier.

The Spaniard averaged a career-low 1.1 points and 1.4 rebounds per game while with Boston, but bounced back in his last home with the Utah Jazz, putting up 6.2 points and 3.5 boards per game.
