On Thursday, Rutgers basketball officially got involved with Tyler Betsey, sending an offer out to the class of 2024 wide receiver. It has certainly been a busy month for Betsey, who has seen his recruitment blow up.
Betsey is a 6-foot-8 small forward at Windsor (Windsor, CT). He plays his AAU basketball for the famed New York Rens program.
Coming into this week, he held offers from Iona, Iowa, Nebraska and TCU among others. Rutgers is his latest offer.
Betsey tweeted about the offer on Thursday night. Pittsburgh and Syracuse also offered in July.

Rutgers recently offered Qin Pang, who also plays for the New York Rens. Pang talked with RutgersWire about the offer from the Scarlet Knights:
“Coach Steve and Brandin spoke to my guardian Tracy about the offer. When he told me the offer I was so excited about that,” Pang told RutgersWire on July 12.
“They didn’t talk about that too much, the coach said they loved my game. Keep it up, and they said they followed me for a while. I think there’s more talk in the near future.”
Rutgers is recruiting Connecticut hard. In the class of 2023, the Scarlet Knights landed four-star Gavin Griffiths, a four-star forward and one of the top players in Connecticut in this recruiting cycle.

Griffiths is a consensus top-50 player in the nation and the top-ranked recruit landed by head coach Steve Pikiell.
This past season, Rutgers finished 18-14 and made consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time since 1976.
