Alabama football has recently produced some stellar wide receivers that made their way to the NFL via early rounds of the NFL draft. In the 2022 draft, [autotag]Jameson Williams[/autotag] was selected by the Detroit Lions at No. 12 overall and [autotag]John Metchie[/autotag] III was selected by the Houston Texans in the second round.
Both receivers join teams in need of some help on the offensive side of the ball but aren’t expected to have an immediate impact on their respective teams, according to Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports.
Trapasso listed five rookie wide receivers that are likely to have high expectations when the 2022 season begins.
Both Williams and Metchie are coming off of knee injuries that they suffered in crucial games for the Crimson Tide late in the season.
While they are expected to make their professional debuts early in the season, neither are currently fully cleared for action.
It’s difficult to predict how wide receivers will do in their rookie seasons, as the massive jump from the collegiate level to the NFL is a drastic one that comes with higher-level defensive backs and a brand new system.
Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Williams and Metchie as the 2022 NFL season approaches.
