Johntay Cook is inching closer to a decision. On Friday evening, Cook narrowed his list of schools under consideration to three teams. Texas made the cut.
The elite receiver looks to now decide between Michigan, Oregon, and Texas.
It’s not difficult to see the allure of all three schools. Oregon has been one of the top programs in college football for the last two decades. Michigan has a blue-blood track record, but last year’s college football playoff appearance only strengthens Jim Harbaugh’s pitch.
Texas has a decided advantage over those schools at quarterback with the commitment of Arch Manning.

Cook has hinted at joining up with Arch Manning via a viral video from his TikTok account.
Should Cook choose the Longhorns, he would be the program’s first five-star receiver recruit since Bru McCoy and Jordan Whittington. A commitment from Cook would strengthen Texas’ chances for a top-class and SEC-ready roster when they leave the Big 12 conference.
Cook is the No. 6 receiver in the country in the 247Sports composite rankings.
