Ravens DL Calais Campbell shares thoughts on DC Mike Macdonald

Ravens defensive lineman Calais Campbell shared his thoughts on Baltimore defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald

The Baltimore Ravens brought back a big piece of their defense this offseason in defensive lineman Calais Campbell. The veteran is returning for his 15th NFL season after figuring out what his next steps would be, and he’s slated to make a massive impact once again.

Baltimore held their first day of mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, and Campbell was one of the players to step in front of the microphone and talk to the media. When asked about defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, Campbell shared that he thinks he’ll be really good for the team, mentioning that he and Macdonald had some good conversations when both were with the team in 2020.

Campbell is an extremely talented player, and the veteran has been one of the better run defenders in the league over the past few seasons. He is extremely tough to single-team due to his sheer size, standing at 6-foot-8 and weighing around 300 pounds.

The defensive lineman has accumulated 77 total tackles and 5.5 sacks throughout his time with the Ravens so far, and will look to generate even more interior pressure under Macdonald. There are sure to be some differences between the systems of Macdonald and former defensive coordinator Don Martindale, but some principles could remain the same.
