Report: Kings held draft workout with Baylor’s Jeremy Sochan

Sacramento had the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year in for a workout on Sunday.

Baylor freshman Jeremy Sochan on Sunday reportedly participated in a pre-draft workout with the Sacramento Kings, according to Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee.

Sochan, who recently turned 19 last month, was named the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year after posting 9.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals in 30 games. He produced perhaps his best game of the season on Feb. 26 with 17 points and five rebounds in a win over No. 5 Kansas.

The 6-foot-9 forward emerged as an excellent defender with Baylor and affected games in a variety of ways. He has an evolving offensive game but projects to be able to develop into a player that can run the show and create for himself at the next level.

The Kings enter the draft with the fourth pick but are rumored into wanting to trade down or out of the first round altogether. They would like to acquire players to help them win now and could find that player in the draft or use the fourth pick to get them.

Sochan is widely projected to be selected in the 7-14 range, which could fall into the Kings’ window if they opt to trade out of the fourth spot. Sacramento likely is doing its due diligence on Sochan to prepare for any scenario that may present itself on June 23.

While it remains to be seen which direction the Kings will go, it is becoming apparent the first shake-up on draft night could very well emanate from Sacramento.
