LOOK: Photos from Texas softball’s exciting World Series run thus far

This team is special.

The Texas softball program has had an exciting postseason run up to this point.

The Longhorns are one of three unranked teams to make the Women’s College World Series this year, but their path to get there was a tough one. Texas traveled to Seattle for regional play and upset No. 13 Washington to advance to the Super Regionals in Fayetteville.

Not many projected the Longhorns to make it past No. 4 Arkansas, but Texas did just that behind excellent pitching performances from ace Hailey Dolcini and freshman Sophia Simpson.

Mike White’s squad has faced a lot of adversity this season and are clearly playing with a chip on their shoulder to prove that they belong in Oklahoma City. The Longhorns defeated No. 5 UCLA in their first game of the World Series before dropping their second matchup to No. 1 Oklahoma.

Now, the Horns will face unranked Arizona on Sunday evening in an elimination game. The winner will advance to take on Oklahoma State, where a trip to the Women’s College World Series will be on the line.
