Does Steph Curry have a Finals MVP award?

The answer may come as a surprise.

When speaking about a player of Steph Curry’s magnitude, the question should never be: does he have a Finals MVP? Instead, we should ask: how many Finals MVPs does he have?

Both questions net surprising answers because the unfortunate reality is that the three-time NBA champion and two-time league MVP has zero Finals MVP awards.

How is that possible? Well, Steph played alongside Kevin Durant during his second and third NBA titles. KD grabbed both MVPs of those Finals and deservedly so. But before Durant spurned Oklahoma City and joined the Warriors to create one of the greatest super-teams ever, Steph ran the show for Golden State.

On the heels of his 2015 NBA MVP honor, Curry’s production spilled into the 2015 Finals where he averaged 26.0 points en route to a 4-2 series win over LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers. But even then, he saw his deserving award go to Andre Iguodala who averaged 16.3 points and 5.8 rebounds and guarded LeBron admirably.

SO, no. Stephen Curry has zero NBA Finals MVP. However, his odds to win this season’s are the highest of any player (-105 at Tipico Sportsbook) ahead of Game 1.
