The Boston Celtics are headed to the NBA Finals following a nail-biting Game 7 against the Miami Heat. Boston ultimately pulled out a 100-96 victory Sunday night, their third road victory of the series. Now the Celts are headed to the Bay to take on the Golden State Warriors.
It was a Jekyll and Hyde first half. For every Celtics run, the Heat had an answer. For every brilliant play, there were dumb fouls or blown layups. Importantly, however, the Celts limited turnovers and won the rebounding battle. Jimmy Butler was once again miraculous, but Boston took a hard-fought but narrow lead into the half. Following a hotly contested third quarter, the Celtics led 82-75 at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
Boston appeared to pull away in the fourth. Jayson Tatum hit a few massive shots. The defense was as solid as ever. Miami looked tired and without answers.
Out of seemingly nowhere, Miami roared back. With 11.4 seconds left, it was just a two-point Celtics lead. Boston came within a hair of blowing a double-digit lead with a trip to the Finals on the line. The horn sounded, however, and the Celtics maintained the lead. Boston is going back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010.
