The Longhorns are still in the running for one of the top defensive backs in the 2023 recruiting class.
Five-star cornerback Javien Toviano announced the top eight schools in his recruitment on Tuesday. Texas made the cut alongside Georgia, Texas A&M, Oregon, Alabama, LSU, Michigan and Ohio State.
Toviano is rated the No. 5 cornerback in the country for the 2023 cycle and the No. 4 overall recruit in the state of Texas, according to 247Sports composite.
In 2021, Toviano earned Texas 8-6A first-team all-district selection as a junior for Martin High School (Arlington, TX). He compiled 26 tackles, one forced fumble, and one interception.
