You can use the word “former” in a number of different ways in front of Jared Scott’s name. He was a former Prairie View A&M Panther, a former Wyoming Panther, a former Jacksonville State Gamecock and, heck, he even played another position as a former wide receiver.
But, now, he’s a current Carolina Panther.
According to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, the Panthers are signing the 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end following his tryout. He has been one of 42 players—rookies, undrafted free-agent signings and veterans alike—present at Carolina’s 2022 rookie minicamp.
Scott played his final season of college ball at Idaho State University, where he reeled in 41 receptions for 340 yards and four touchdowns in 2021. He, over his previous four campaigns between his three aforementioned stops, totaled 24 receptions, 445 yards and five scores.
The Oak Park, Ill. native will join the Panthers’ roster as their sixth tight end—alongside Ian Thomas, Tommy Tremble, Colin Thompson, Stephen Sullivan and Josh Babicz.
