One of the biggest storylines of the college football offseason was the quarterback movement across the country.
Texas was on the receiving end of a program changing quarterback, in Ohio State’s Quinn Ewers. The former top recruit who also held a perfect rating has been the talk of the offseason, and many believe he is a lock to be the starter.
He had great plays during the spring game, like his touchdown pass to Isaiah Neyor, but a recent recruiting visit of one Jordan Addison may have signaled that Ewers has already won the job even without it becoming official.

Next to Addison, who mind you is wearing the number that he is currently slated to wear, is Ewers himself. While many may think is nothing at all, we saw this last season during Arch Manning’s visit. Hudson Card, who at the time many believed and were reporting was the leader of the quarterback battle over Casey Thompson, was spotted hosted Manning on his tour. Card would later go on to win the job as the he starter, but was pulled during the Week 2 loss against Arkansas.
It is fair to speculate that although Ewers hasn’t officially been announced as the starter, he has cemented himself as the starter in the eyes of the team and maybe even the coaches if he is the quarterback present for hosting the No. 1 available transfer and Biletnikoff winner. He will still have to beat out Card in the upcoming summer and fall camps, but he seems to be on the right track.
Ewers was one of the best high school recruits ever, as in three years of high school football he threw for nearly 7,000 yards for 73 touchdowns and just eight interceptions. Longhorns fans are hoping he is as good as advertised, and will finally be the quarterback that is able to sustain elite success.
