Rams rookie Derion Kendrick models his game after Jalen Ramsey

When you want to be the best, it helps to model your game after the best.

Derion Kendrick has a chance to contribute at cornerback as a rookie in 2022, given the lack of clarity at the position outside of Jalen Ramsey and Troy Hill. He’ll have to battle Decobie Durant, David Long Jr. and Robert Rochell in order to earn playing time, but he gained valuable experience in both the ACC and SEC during his time at Clemson and Georgia.

As he gets acclimated in the NFL, there’s one cornerback he enjoys watching and modeling his game after – and it just happens to be a new teammate.

Kendrick said that player is Ramsey, pointing to his attitude, swagger and aggressiveness.

Ramsey is viewed as the best cornerback in the game right now, so he’s a good player to look up to. Kendrick gets to learn from Ramsey up close, too, with both players roaming the Rams secondary in 2022.

The Rams selected Kendrick in the sixth round of the draft this year after his stock slipped due to poor testing numbers, which included a 4.78 in the 40-yard dash.
