Where Michigan basketball is ranked in 247Sports way-too-early top 25 poll

Still so much to be determined with this roster.

Michigan basketball has had a whirlwind of an offseason thus far.

The Wolverines had both five-star freshman Moussa Diabate and Caleb Houstan enter the NBA draft — while maintaining eligibility. Michigan, shockingly, lost Frankie Collins to Arizona State via the transfer portal. The Wolverines lost Zeb Jackson and Brandon Johns Jr. to VCU after they both entered their names into the transfer portal. But the maize and blue gained former Princeton guard Jaelin Llewellyn as a graduate transfer.

Maybe the most stunning development came from Hunter Dickinson who opted to come back to Michigan without entertaining the NBA draft after his sophomore season.

While the dust hasn’t even remotely settled on what next year’s roster will look like for Michigan, 247Sports came out with a way-too-early top 25 rankings. Kevin Flaherty, who wrote the article, has the Wolverines slotted at No. 13.

13. Michigan
Losing Frankie Collins to the transfer portal stings, and the Wolverines could also lose one of, or both of, Caleb Houstan and Moussa Diabate. Should both players come back next to All-American Hunter Dickinson, the Wolverines should be among the Big Ten’s best teams. Even if Michigan brings back one of Houstan and Diabate, that might be enough with Jett Howard filling out the wings and Princeton transfer Jaelin Llewellyn snagging a backcourt spot.

Diabate and Houstan have until June 1st to come back to Michigan, or to keep their names in for the draft. A lot will hinge on what they decide to do.
