Texas received good news on the recruiting trail Sunday.
Along with four-star wide receiver Johntay Cook including Texas in his top five schools, four-star defensive lineman Sydir Mitchell also released a top schools list on Sunday morning.
Mitchell will be focusing on nine schools to close out his recruitment. Miami, Texas, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas A&M, Kentucky, and Rutgers each made the cut.
The 6-foot-5 defensive lineman is ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect in New Jersey for the 2023 recruiting class and the No. 32 player at his position, according to 247Sports composite.
I would like to thank all the coaches that have extended scholarship offers to me. All are blessings and I am appreciative. With that being said these are the 9 schools that my family and I will focus on. #HookEm #GigEm #GoDawgs #GBO #BBN #CHOP #GoCanes #GeauxTigers #WarEagle pic.twitter.com/i99U3bpg5B

In 2020, Mitchell recorded 32 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks for Bergen Catholic High School. As it stands currently, he only has official visits scheduled with Georgia and Texas A&M.
Brian Dohn, 247Sports national recruiting analyst, believes Mitchell possesses natural strength and ideal size and length to succeed as a defensive tackle at the collegiate level.
