The cornerback position was just too glaring of a need for USA TODAY in their final mock ahead of the 2022 NFL draft.

A day prior to the upcoming event, Clemson defensive back Andrew Booth Jr. was the selection for the Bills in their last projections.

It’s a pick that makes plenty of sense.

Here’s the breakdown:

Andrew Booth, CB, Clemson: Cornerback is the one true need the Bills have with Tre’Davious White coming off ACL surgery and Levi Wallace gone to the Steelers.

Booth has been one of the most popular pre-draft mock picks for Buffalo. It’s for good reason.

The Bills had a top-30 visit with him in recent weeks leading up to the draft, which indicates some legitimate interest in him. The team is only allowed to have 30 such meetings with prospects ahead of the draft and one was allocated to Booth.

On the defender, Booth is a talented player, however, some question his versatility in playing in a zone defense like the Bills run. The Draft Network wrote on Booth: “he can clean up some missed tackles and improve in zone coverage.”

But that doesn’t mean he can’t do it. The Bills likely made sure Booth can excel in their defense when meeting with him pre-draft.
