All-time Notre Dame players drafted by Atlanta Falcons

Any fans of the Dirty Birds out there?

The Atlanta Falcons have been around since 1966 but are still looking for their first league championship.

They came impossibly close in Super Bowl LI but Tom Brady and the New England Patriots led a comeback for the ages that kept the title from Matt Ryan and company’s hands.

In their 55 years of existance, the Falcons have drafted players from Notre Dame 10 different times, three of which were selected in their first draft back in 1966, however.

The pipeline isn’t nearly as strong as it is in other NFL cities for Notre Dame but there are still a few names you’ll recognize as former Fighting Irish to get drafted by the Atlanta Falcons:

1966: Nick Rassas, DB:  2nd round, 17th overall
1966:  Phil Sheridan, E:  3rd round, 48th overall
1966:  Bill Wolski, FB:  5th round, 65th overall
1969:  George Kunz, T:  1st round, 2nd overall
1972:  Clarence Ellis, DB:  1st round, 15th overall
1973:  Greg Marx, DE:  2nd round, 39th overall
1981:  John Scully, G:  4th round, 109th overall
1985:  Mike Gann, DE:  2nd round, 45th overall
2013:  Zeke Motta, DB:  7th round, 244th overall
2014:  Prince Shembo, LB:  4h round, 139th overall
