In early December of last year, Las Vegas Bishop Gorman star cornerback Justyn Rhett verbally committed to Notre Dame, picking the Irish over Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Oklahoma. For the next four plus months, it looked like the Irish had a commitment from one of the best defensive backs in the country.
Unfortunately, Rhett had continued to have conversations with other schools and this past weekend took an official visit to Georgia for their spring game. Prior to that trip, Rhett made a decision that many Notre Dame fans did not want to see, he decommitted from the 2023 recruiting class.

Although Rhett has been quite on his social media account, multiple outlets have confirmed the unfortunate news. The 2023 Notre Dame recruiting class now has eight total commits, however the group is no longer the top ranked class in the country according to multiple outlets.
