Report: Warriors’ Steph Curry (foot) on track to make return for playoff opener vs. Nuggets on Saturday

Steph Curry (foot) is reportedly on track to make his highly-anticipated return to the court for game 1 of the opening round of the playoffs against the Nuggets on Saturday.

After suffering a sprained ligament and bone bruise in his left foot on March 16 against the Boston Celtics, Steph Curry missed the final 12 games of the Golden State Warriors’ regular season. However, with the start of the NBA playoffs nearing, Curry’s highly-anticipated return to the court could be coming just in time.

According to Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Curry is on track to make his return for game one of the Warriors’ playoff series against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday. The eight-time All-Star’s status will hinge on if he clears the Warriors’ scrimmage at practice on Thursday with any issues, per Charania and Slater.

On Tuesday, the Warriors announced Curry has returned to practice for individual drills and is making “good progress” with his injury. However, his status for Saturday is still considered undetermined. On Wednesday, the 34-year-old shooter appeared at Warriors’ practice in different drills.

Following Thursday’s scrimmage, another update regarding Curry’s availability for Saturday’s contest could be on the way. If Curry can return to the court, he’ll join Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson in the backcourt against the reigning Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic.
