The Hudson Card vs. Quinn Ewers battle is one of the notable quarterback competitions in the nation.
Card returns from a 2021 season where he went through his fair share of ups and downs while splitting time with Casey Thompson. The redshirt sophomore won the starting job to open the season but could not hold on to the role. Card will have the leg up from an experience standpoint after appearing in seven games last year.
Ewers’ move to Texas created lots of offseason buzz around the country and for good reason. The Ohio State transfer is one of the most talented quarterbacks in college football. He boasted a perfect recruiting ranking before reclassifying to the 2021 class.
Steve Sarkisian mentioned in his Tuesday media availability he was pleased with the play of both quarterbacks in the team’s first spring scrimmage.
In Texas scrimmage news, Sark said both QBs Card and Ewers played “efficient football” on Sat. Both completed more than 70% with no turnovers.

Texas football released a highlight video from Saturday’s scrimmage featuring some nice throws by each quarterback. Ewers stepped up in the pocket to hit Xavier Worthy for a 50-yard touchdown strike and Card dropped a dime to Bijan Robinson in the corner of the end zone.
Having to pick between two quarterbacks playing well is a good problem to have. Expect this battle to continue through fall camp.
