Look out opposing quarterbacks, Von Miller is coming at you when you face the Buffalo Bills.
But Pro Football Focus is sending a warning to others, namely running backs.
In reflecting on the Bills’ work in free agency, the football analytics outlet naturally discussed Miller.
However, the most intriguing analytic mentioned was his work against the run:
The Bills addressed a weak spot of their defense in a major way, as the Miller signing overshadowed two additional strong acquisitions on the interior in Jones and Settle. An underrated component of the Miller addition is his run defense prowess, as he’s never earned a run defense grade below 80.0 in his career. Over the last two seasons, Buffalo’s run defense grade (45.2) ranks 23rd.
Known for his sacks, if Miller is getting tackles for loss too? The Bills will take it.
The additions of DaQuan Jones and Tim Settle at defensive tackle will hopefully help in the same area as well.
These moves could help the Bills defense, the top-ranked one from 2021, come full circle again next season.
