Drew Gilbert discusses Tennessee’s No. 1 ranking

Drew Gilbert discusses Tennessee baseball’s No. 1 ranking.

No. 1 Tennessee (27-1, 9-0 SEC) completed a three-game series sweep at No. 5 Vanderbilt (20-7, 4-5 SEC) Sunday.

Following Sunday’s game No. 3, junior outfielder Drew Gilbert discussed Tennessee’s performance and No. 1 ranking.

“Obviously, getting three wins here is tough,” Gilbert said. “It was a fun weekend, but every SEC opponent means the same thing in the long run.

“Being No. 1 is cool and all, but our end goal has nothing to do with a ranking. We try to play our best baseball every single day, we try to improve every single day. If we keep doing that, we’ll be in a good spot at the end of the year.”

Tennessee has won 19 consecutive games, a program record. The Vols have not trailed in a contest since the first inning against Rhode Island on March 13.
