Bill Connelly’s first edition of SP+ recently came out with its first edition of where teams are ranked heading into the 2022 season. Now we will use those numbers to predict the record of each Mountain West school, and then determine who is expected to be the very early champion.
Fresno State’s initial SP+ number is right in the middle at No. 39 and that should mean a really good season for the Bulldogs under Jeff Tedford’s second tenure with Fresno State.
The big question is if Tedford can keep it going as he did when he turned around the program when he took over for Tim DeRuyter and had an amazing turnaround and got the team to compete and win a conference title.
Sept 3 Cal Poly (Win)
Sept 10 Oregon State (SP+: 46 | Win)
Sept 17 at USC (SP+: 64 | Win)
Sept 24 OPEN DATE
Oct 1 at UConn (SP+: 127 | Win)
Oct 8 at Boise State (SP+: 43 | Win)
Oct 15 San Jose State (SP+: 96 | Win)
Oct 22 at New Mexico (SP+: 126 | Win)
Oct 29 San Diego State (SP+: 67 | Win)
Nov 5 Hawaii (SP+: 122 | Win)
Nov 12 at UNLV (SP+: 109 | Win)
Nov 19 at Nevada (SP+: 120 | Win)

Well, well, well. SP+ has Fresno State ranked better than their entire schedule and that means at this early point in the offseason they are projected to go 12-0.
