Early this offseason, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane indicated he did not plan to spend a bunch of money during free agency.
So much for that.
Free agency will continue throughout the offseason, but during the early portions, the Bills spent in a frenzy.
The highlight moment of that was signing All-Pro pass rusher Von Miller. He’s now one of the team’s largest salary cap hits.
But Miller wasn’t alone. Buffalo fortified their defensive line with multiple additions, such as Tim Settle and Jordan Phillips, plus other spots were addressed on the other side of the ball.
All in all, the Bills spent, and when general manager Brandon Beane commented there’s no more money left after that work that was done–he wasn’t exactly lying.
Via ESPN’s Field Yates, we now know how little that figure is.
At $1.093 million, the Bills have the second-least amount of remaining cap space in the NFL.
The only team with less at $738.6K is the New York Giants.
Moving forward, that will likely limit how many more free agent additions Buffalo can make.
But Beane loves to have his flexibility.
One could assume some moves will be made in order to free up some more cap space to give the Bills a bit more breathing room–that, and they’ll need cap space to sign their 2022 draft picks in April.
