The McDonald’s All-American game is designed to showcase the best high school basketball players in the nation and give them a platform to display what they can do at the next level and increase their value to potential NBA scouts down the road.
For Oregon Ducks’ 2022 signee Kel’el Ware, a 5-star center who stands at 7-feet-0 inches, the week of festivities certainly acted as a jumping-off point.

Ware, who is ranked by 247Sports as the 8th best player in the 2022 class, used his time at the all-star game to impress the many NBA scouts in town and show what he can bring to the Ducks next season. With an impressive showing in the game and solid workouts throughout the week, Ware seemed to solidify the idea that he will likely be a one-and-done player in Eugene, and could be looking at a place in the NBA draft lottery in 2023.
Kel’el Ware (@KelelWare) “is the surprise of the week” and “NBA scouts have fallen in love with him.” “Most potential in the class” of any player.

Oregon 5-star signee @KelelWare about to play in McDonald’s All-American Game on ESPN. He’s been a standout all week in practice. His stock has skyrocketed in the past year. Might be best Altman recruit ever.

The rest of Oregon’s 2022 recruiting class should not be overlooked, with 5-star Dior Johnson coming to town with JUCO stars Tyrone Williams and Brennan Rigsby. When Ware talked to media members on Monday, he discussed just what that group of players can achieve with the Ducks in the future. However, plays like this have many conversations coming back to just exactly what Ware can do at Oregon.

Despite his recruiting ranking, many analysts seem to be thinking of Ware as one of the best players in his class, and the impact that he will have in Eugene next season is going to be fascinating to watch. Dana Altman has a real player coming to the Ducks.
