While Monday’s contest against the Washington Wizards marked the long-awaited return to the court of Draymond Green, it was also the 34th birthday for the Golden State Warriors’ two-time Most Valuable Player.
To celebrate his 34th birthday, Steph Curry fueled a Warriors’ victory with a red-hot performance. Curry torched the Wizards for a game-high 47 points on 16-of-25 shooting from the field with six assists, six rebounds and a steal in 35 minutes against the Wizards.
In signature fashion, Curry heated up from long-distance, drilling seven triples on 14 attempts from beyond the arc.
Curry recorded the fourth-highest scoring performance for a player on his birthday. Shaquille O’Neal (61), Dominque Wilkins (53), LeBron James (48) are the only three players to score more than Curry on their birthday.
Monday’s performance against the Wizards was the sixth time this season Curry has notched 40 or more points in the 2021-22 NBA season. Curry’s 47 points was his second-highest scoring total of the season, trailing only his 50 point performance against the Atlanta Hawks.
