The NFL announced the fifth-year option numbers for the 2019 first-rounders on Monday. That means the values for New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence are officially set.
The number for Jones was actually higher than anticipated. Initially expected to be around the $20 million mark, Jones’ fifth-year option would actually cost the team $22.384 million. And while Lawrence has been a bit of an afterthought, the Giants have a tough decision to make there, too.
For Lawrence, the fifth-year option value has been set at $10.753 million. That would be a hefty, hefty raise for the 17th overall pick in 2019.

For the Giants, if they pick them up: QB Daniel Jones would cost $22.384M and DT Dexter Lawrence would cost $10.753M.
They have until May 2 to decide.

The Giants maintain that they’ve yet to make a decision on Jones and are in no rush to do so. General manager Joe Schoen wants to see him on the field during minicamp before the option is either picked up or declined.
“We’re still working through all that. We’re going to be patient and go through the process,” Schoen said at the 2022 NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
The same patient approach is likely to be taken with Lawrence, although he has far less to prove. The decision on his future will all boil down to the finances and his fit in Wink Martindale’s defense.
