Buffalo Bills linebacker coach Bob Babich is planning to retire from the NFL. Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson first reported the news.
Babich, 61, has been on Sean McDermott’s coaching staff since McDermott took his job in 2017.
Babich spent 38 years coaching and 19 in the NFL. Prior to heading to Buffalo, Babich spent time with the four other teams.
Among those included two stints as a defensive coordinator. Those spells were with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2013-2015) and Chicago Bears (2007-2009).
Reportedly Babich’s son, Bobby Babich, will replace him as the Bills’ linebackers coach. He has been with the Bills as a defensive assistant coach since 2018, most recently as a safeties coach.
In addition Babich, the Bills lost offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, offensive line coach Bobby Johnson, and assistant quarterback coach Shea Tierney.
All moved to the New York Giants, Daboll as head coach.
