Bills’ Stefon Diggs named 68th best player in NFL by PFF in 2021

#Bills’ Stefon Diggs named as 68th best player in NFL by PFF in 2021:

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs was the third member of his team to appear on Pro Football Focus‘ list of the NFL’s top-101 players from the 2021 season.

Diggs clocked in at No. 68 overall.

Being recognized is a big honor from the football analytics outlet. However, PFF did note Diggs did see a drop on this same list from a year ago.

Here’s PFF’s breakdown on Diggs’ placement:

68. WR STEFON DIGGS, BUFFALO BILLS
2021 Snaps: 1,016 | 2021 PFF Grade: 82.3

Diggs’ production declined in his second season in Buffalo, as he averaged 1.9 yards per route run compared to 2.5 the season before. He saw four fewer targets over the regular season but had 24 fewer catches and was significantly down on yards. He did score two more touchdowns and remains an all-around excellent receiver. Diggs can win in a variety of ways and is a vital part of the Bills’ offense.

PFF 101 Rank, 2020: 16

We did not need the fancy stats to know that Diggs’ production declined in 2021. But as PFF does mentions, it’s not the end of the world. Really, it’s more a product of circumstances.

Diggs was still great. He surpassed the century mark in catches with 103, adding 1225 yards and 10 touchdowns along the way.

His numbers drop because the ones from 2020 were simply ridiculous.

Diggs’ 127 grabs and 1,535 yards a year ago led the NFL. It would be unfair to expect that from Diggs every season.

But it’s reasonable to think he will continue humming along at an elite level. He did still earn a Pro Bowl nod in 2020, after all.

Diggs appearing on PFF’s top players list makes him the third Bills players to do so. Others from Buffalo on their list were fellow receiver Gabriel Davis at No. 93 while offensive lineman Dion Dawkins landed at 74.
