Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks’ coaching staff seem to be doing a good job of making up ground on the 2023 recruiting cycle.
After securing an impressive 2022 class, Lanning recently picked up a small win this week when 5-star cornerback Cormani McClain expanded his top-5 and included the Ducks. According to On3, McClain’s list now is down to Alabama, Florida, Miami, Georgia, Oregon, BYU, Ohio State, and Michigan.

According to 247Sports, McClain is ranked as the No. 1 CB in the 2023 class, and the No. 3 player overall. He stands at 6-foot-1, 165 pounds. Here is what 247Sports recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins had to say about McClain:
“Looks the part with long arms and long legs. A two-way athlete with elite ball skills that has produced as a wide receiver, but projects as a cornerback at the next level given how he moves and changes directions,” Ivins said. “Smooth in the backpedal for someone that initially started high school career off playing mostly offense. Quick trigger skills lead to plenty of takeaways.”
It will likely be a while before McClain makes a final decision, but as one of the top players in the 2023 class, you can guarantee that it’s going to be very hyped when he finally does choose his next school.
