The Philadelphia 76ers entered the Windy City on Sunday afternoon ready for a big matchup with the Chicago Bulls. The Sixers entered Sunday just 2.5 games back of Chicago for the No. 1 seed in the East and with an opportunity to win the season series, this was a big matchup.
The Sixers had themselves a solid start thanks to the stellar play of Joel Embiid and the continued growth of Tyrese Maxey and that allowed them to stay ahead of Chicago despite the scoring onslaught of DeMar DeRozan. The undermanned Bulls hung with the Sixers all day long, but Philadelphia eventually came away with a 119-108 victory in a key matchup at this point of the season.
Embiid led the Sixers with 40 points and 10 rebounds, Tobias Harris had 23 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, Maxey added 16 points, six assists, and four rebounds, and Seth Curry had 12 and four assists. Georges Niang and Furkan Korkmaz had nine points each off the bench and Andre Drummond pulled down eight rebounds as well.
