The Ohio State basketball team was back in action on Sunday and may have just put together its most complete game of the season, beating the Maryland Terrapins 82-67.
The Buckeyes were very efficient on the offensive end. The first half was better than the last 20 minutes, but OSU still shot over 50% from the floor and found the range from deep again, hitting 11-of-26 shots from beyond the arc. It was especially promising to see sharp-shooter Justin Ahrens find the range after a bit of a slump, knocking down 4-of-7 from three-point range.
But this game was again about E.J. Liddell. He started out slow, but began to heat up midway through the first half and kept it going in the second stanza. Liddell notched a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds, but also added five assists. Ahrens and Zed Key also finished in double figures, both with 14 points each.
The game was a little more up and down than what we’ve seen from the Buckeyes in the past but that had a lot to do with the depth of Ohio State vs. a thin bench for the Terps. OSU got out and ran just a little more than normal and took advantage scoring over 80 points in a Big Ten contest for just the third time this season.

With the win, Ohio State improves its record to 14-5 overall and keeps pace in the upper division of the Big Ten by running its conference record to 7-3. The Buckeyes are next in action against Rutgers in Piscataway on Thursday. If you’ve been paying attention, that’ll be a tough one.
