This has to be one of the most inconsistent teams of the Tom Izzo era. Despite sporting a good record, the Spartans suffered another frustrating loss on the road to Rutgers on Saturday, 84-63.
Like every loss (and some dramatic wins), we got to see MSU making many of the same mistakes as we have all year, with the Spartans losing in both the turnover differential and on the boards. Six Rutgers players also scored in double digits as Michigan State simply couldn’t stop anyone all game.
The only bright spot for Michigan State in this one was the re-emergence of Gabe Brown, who shot 6-for-8 from three and scored 20 points after going through a horrible shooting slump.
Michigan State will face No. 11 Wisconsin on Tuesday at home with a chance to shake this one off of them.
