The Baltimore Ravens are currently scheduled to have 10 picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. They will have plenty of opportunities to make themselves better on both sides of the football, and should come out of all three days of the draft with promising young talent.
In his latest 2022 mock draft, Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports made a selection for the entirety of the first round. For Baltimore, he gave them one of the top cornerback prospects in the 2022 class in University of Cincinnati defensive back Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner. When explaining his selection, Trapasso offered a simple reason, saying that Gardner would be a great fit as a man corner with the team.
“Gardner is the perfect press man corner to play in the Ravens defense.”
Gardner played for three years with the Bearcats, accumulating 99 total tackles and nine interceptions to go along with 3.5 sacks. He stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs in the neighborhood of 188 pounds, which gives him great length and athleticism to keep up with some of the best receivers in the game. He can play in both press and zone schemes, and uses his terrific ball skills to be a difference maker on defense.
It wouldn’t be shocking to see the Ravens beef up their secondary in the first round of this year’s draft, and Gardner could be a player who gets the call. The 2022 cornerback class is extremely deep, so if a talent like Gardner were to somehow reach pick No. 14, it could mark a steal for Baltimore.
